Finding Balance

The key to life is finding balance within your human body. In the 1990’s, I studied Ayurveda and learned the importance of balancing the doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha. These energetic systems permeate life within and around our humanity.

Finding balance means living in the discomfort zone and doing what you don’t want while knowing what needs to be accomplished. Children do not want to eat vegetables, yet a persistent parent who lives by their beliefs teaches a child, by example, how to make healthy food choices. The child learns to cook and prepare vegetables and fruits with an eagerness and appreciation for the nutrition within food.

Balance means breathing when you are anxious or afraid thereby conducting oxygen to the prefrontal lobe of the brain. Balance means putting down the phone and stepping outside to feel the cold air and seeing a calm, lovely bird perched in a tree. Balance is proving to yourself that you are vital and alive by consuming life with intention and appreciation.

The Divine is balance and we are the living example of that divinity in motion.
